Established in January of 2010, Prairie Fire's roots are in promoting our local noise community in Winnipeg, Manitoba; however, the label has quickly grown to encompass the work of national and international artists, as well.
Prairie Fire was initiated by Chris Jacques and Cole Peters. Currently, Chris handles A&R as well as all mastering and duplication, while Cole handles art direction both in print and online.
Based in the middle of the remote and mostly-frozen but sometimes-sweltering Canadian prairies, our objective is to promote the work of dedicated musicians and sound artists working in the fields of noise, drone and experimental music. We have worked (and continue to work) with many artists who are far below the radar, as well as well-known and respected artists on an ongoing basis.
Outside of the label, Chris records under the moniker White Dog and owns and operates Dub Ditch Picnic Records; Cole records as Gomeisa and Secret Girls, collaborates with Andreas Brandal in the wall noise group Museums of Sleep, and pursues work as a designer.
We welcome all demo submissions, but stress that this label is operated on a part-time basis — as such, response times will vary, and we will only be in contact with artists whose work we are interested in publishing. For further information, get in touch with us via email, as listed on the contact page.
